Updating ECDIS Software
→
→ System → System Information → Check & Update
Preparation for Update
NSR ECDIS NES-3000 software update is performed using a USB medium containing an archive with updates released by the software developer or from the ECDIS software manufacturer’s repository.

Important
Information about software updates is available at:
NSE DOMAIN NAME
Onboard system software updates are performed by authorized dealers of NEW SUNRISE CO., LTD.
Important
Before updating the software, perform USB medium mounting
Update Search Logic
First, ECDIS searches for updates on the removable medium.
If no medium is present, the search is performed in the repository.
If a medium is found and an update package is detected on it, the software checks the update relevance.
After checking update relevance, a comparison is made with the update in the repository.
The latest relevant update is installed.
Attention
To update the software from the repository, Internet access must be provided.
When configuring the bridge network, the repository address must be added to the list of trusted addresses.
Update Procedure
1. Checking for Updates
If no updates are available, a notification will appear at the bottom of the window: “No updates found”
When update files are detected, confirm the action in the dialog by pressing “Update”

2. Starting the Update Process
The software update utility will be launched
The update is performed automatically

3. Completing the Update
Wait for the update to complete
Press the “Restart” button to apply the changes
4. Installation Verification and Database Update
After restarting the ECDIS application, a screen will be displayed showing a list of databases and their verification results
If a checkmark is displayed next to all items in the list, the update was completed correctly
To proceed to the application, press Continue

Warning
Do not interrupt the update process before it is fully complete. This may result in system corruption.
Important
If the software update completes incorrectly, contact an authorized dealer of NEW SUNRISE CO., LTD.
Important
Update failure — Before starting the ECDIS software update, ensure that the correct time is set in ECDIS. If the ECDIS date and time are earlier than the update package release date, the application will not install the updates.
Tip
Before updating the ECDIS software, it is recommended to create a backup copy.

Important
Backup creation time depends on the ENC collection size, route collection, volume of manual corrections and user chart, and may take a significant amount of time.
Note
The backup creation process runs in the background and does not restrict the navigator from performing ECDIS operational tasks.
Restoring from a Backup
→
→ System → Backup → ![]()
Important
When restoring, all previously installed charts, certificates, routes, settings, manual corrections, and user objects will be replaced with data from the backup.

Note
Restoring a backup requires a subsequent ECDIS reboot.
Important
Restoring a backup may take a significant amount of time depending on the volume of previously saved data. The backup restoration speed also depends on the USB port class and USB medium.
Managing Backups
Number of Copies
The number of backups is determined by the ECDIS hard disk capacity
Deleting Old Copies
With long-term storage, backup data becomes outdated
It is advisable to forcibly delete old backups
Tip
It is recommended to regularly create backups before important updates or system changes.
Tip
It is recommended to store ECDIS backups on external storage media.
