Data Input. Control Devices
Pointing Devices
Various pointing devices may be used to control ECDIS: mouse, trackball, touchpad, keyboard, touch screen, and on-screen keyboard.
Hereinafter, pointing devices such as mouse, trackball, and touchpad will be referred to as mouse.
If the device running ECDIS is equipped with a touch screen, it may also be used for control.
Touch screen configuration
When using a touch screen, it is recommended to enable the corresponding mode:
→
→ Interface → Touch Screen
Tip
When using a touch screen, it is recommended to:
enable Touch Screen mode to increase the size of ECDIS graphical interface elements.
enable the on-screen keyboard for entering text or numbers in the corresponding fields.
Types of pointing devices
Supported input devices:
Mouse — primary pointing device for control
Trackball — alternative to the mouse
Touchpad — touch-sensitive control panel
Keyboard — for text input and hotkeys
Touch screen — direct control by touch
On-screen keyboard — virtual keyboard on the screen
On-screen Keyboard
The on-screen keyboard is designed for use on devices that do not have a hardware keyboard.
By default, the on-screen keyboard is disabled.
Enabling the on-screen keyboard
To enable/disable the on-screen keyboard:
→
→ System → Interface → On-screen Keyboard
