Application Graphical Interface
Important
The graphical user interface, icons, and text are designed for reading by a single user from a distance of 1 meter in a normal viewing position.
Main Screen Elements
After launching NSR ECDIS NES-3000, the main application window is displayed on the screen, divided into two parts.

Important
According to ECDIS regulatory documentation requirements, the chart display area must be at least 270×270 mm. This must be taken into account when configuring the ECDIS graphical interface.

Chart Display
The chart display is the main area of the ECDIS interface where electronic navigational charts and associated navigation elements are shown.

Configuring Keyboard Shortcuts
For convenience, the navigator can customize shortcuts to suit personal preferences or disable selected combinations.

Change a Shortcut
To change a shortcut or assign a key to an action — press Edit.

Press the selected keys in the required order, or press a mouse button.

Confirm the selection with the Apply button.
The shortcut will be assigned and saved.
To disable a shortcut for the selected action — press Disable command.

The command will be disabled.
Export Shortcut Settings
Press Export

Select the external removable media, enter a profile name, and confirm the selection.
The settings file will be exported.
Import Shortcut Settings
Press Import

Select a profile name on the external media and confirm the selection.
The settings file will be imported.
Restore Shortcut Factory Settings
Press Restore to factory

Confirm the selection.
The shortcut settings will be restored to factory defaults.

Vessel Position Region
Select the method for locking the ship display on screen:
Set fix — fixed position (the ship mark is located at the operator-specified position)
Reset fix — reset lock — the ship mark is unlocked from the specified position
Display Palette
Three interface display modes are available:
Day — day palette
Dusk — dusk palette
Night — night palette
For each mode, brightness is individually adjustable using the “Brightness” field.
Important
Adjusting the brightness and contrast of the ECDIS screen may make it difficult to read information, especially when using the night and dusk palettes.
Layer Management
Enable/disable display of additional information layers:
AIS layer — AIS data layer
User chart — ENC manual corrections layer
Radar layer — radar overlay layer
ARPA Layer — ARPA data layer
DSC Layer — DSC target layer
Multifunction Window
Select the mode by pressing the indicator button below the window; by default, the overview chart is displayed in the window.

Lens
The mode is designed to display a detailed chart in the vicinity of the ship regardless of the main window settings. If larger scale charts are available under the ship’s position, the larger scale charts are displayed.

Switch to the mode by selecting the cursor mode:

Chart orientation — by ship’s heading
Chart center is locked to the current cursor position in the main chart display
Display scale — 1.5 times smaller than the compilation scale denominator of the viewed ENCs
Lens with Fixed Cursor Lock (Lens Cursor)
The mode is designed for viewing a detailed chart or a larger scale chart under the cursor position and its vicinity regardless of the main window settings.
Cursor in Lens mode:
Return to the original position (to own ship) is performed by pressing the
center chart on ship position button.
Cursor Coordinates
The Cursor Coordinates panel displays the coordinates of the current cursor position on the chart in the main chart display window, bearing and distance from the ship to the cursor position.

Notification Area
The Notification Area is designed to display important messages and notifications to the navigator about the system status, navigational events, and potential issues.

Notification Examples
The image shows examples of notifications:
“Unread AIS messages exist” — there are unread AIS messages
“There is no master in the network” — there is no master station in the network
Chart Viewing Date
If the properties of chart objects have a Chart viewing date that does not match the current date, or the selected date range does not match the current date, the message Display time conditional will be displayed in the window.
Additional Indicators
A Non-official indicator is displayed if a chart from a manufacturer not registered with the IHO is used for navigation
If cells were installed with SSE25 or SSE27 warnings, a corresponding message will appear
Messages about overscaling (Overscaled x…) or the availability of larger scale ENCs

Note
Navigational hazard monitoring is performed in the ship’s track lane, regardless of whether hazard highlighting on the ENC is enabled or disabled. Warnings and alarms are generated for navigational hazards within the ship’s track lane.

Lower Dynamic Panel
The area is designed for dynamic display of settings windows, route editors, chart manager, chart object information, and additional information according to the navigator’s selection.

Panel Capabilities
The panel can display various types of information depending on the selected operating mode, for example:

Route Editor — create and edit routes and voyage schedules
Status indicators — display current system status
Additional information — navigational parameters and sensor data
ENC Collection Management — install ENCs, updates, certificates, ENC licenses, installation log

The panel content adapts to the navigator’s current task, providing quick access to necessary tools and information without switching between different system windows.

The off-scale indicators area displays the following indicators:
Hazard monitoring indicator
Ship position on route indicator
The hazard monitoring indicator is always displayed. The ship position on route indicator is only displayed when a route is activated.

Pressing any indicator expands it over the chart.
Indicator Management
To move an indicator to the top of the main chart display — click the indicator once with the left pointing device button.

Return to the off-scale indicators area — click the indicator once with the left pointing device button.
