Navigational Log
The following minimum data sets are automatically recorded in the logbook:
Standard position — standard record of the vessel’s position
ENC — record of ENC cells (name and updates) used for navigation
Alarms — record of generated alarms and warnings
ECDIS settings — values of key settings and their changes
Event marks — event marks created by navigators
Manual observations — record of manual observations performed
Sentences — record of sentences received from navigational sensors
Select the record type from the drop-down list.

Standard Position (Track)
Recording is performed at the GNSS data reception rate.

Interface
The table contains records for the selected period, taking into account the configured filter.

Set the date range for viewing records in the table using the calendar. |
9 |

Select the display resolution for data in the table. |
Note
Selecting the data display resolution affects only the decimation of data in the table, map display, and data export.
Important
“Standard position” in this section refers to standard position records and does not relate to Track Control mode.
ENC (ENC log)
Menu path |
|---|
|
List of cells through which the vessel’s route passes.
A record is created:
When ECDIS is powered on.
When the vessel’s position moves to a different ENC.
When the scale is changed followed by a transition to an ENC at a different scale level.
Note
Transition to an overview chart is not recorded in the ENC log.
Interface

Attention
When ENC cells are subsequently updated, the data in the existing records will not be changed. ECDIS records the current state of the cells.
Alarms (Alerts log)
Contains records of all: alarms (Alert), warnings (Warning), cautions (Caution), indications (Indication).

Display on map
When displaying an event, the event pictogram is shown on the map.
Tip
Click (tap) the pictogram on the map to navigate to the corresponding record in the table.
Settings (Settings log)
List of ECDIS settings and setting changes during operation. Recording is performed: when ECDIS is powered on, once daily at 00:00, and every time any of the settings listed in the table is changed.
Menu path |

|
Interface

The left column is the list of registered settings (Defined Settings). The right columns contain setting values with date/time and the registration condition (ECDIS power-on, 00:00, parameter change).
Measurement units are displayed according to the settings.
Event Marks (Event log)
Table with event marks for the current and previous sessions.

To view the event description:
Select a record.
Press View.

Settings — configure the Event log table.

To return to the log records, press Back to table.
Manual Observations
Records of manually performed observations: visual — 2, 3 bearings; radar — 2, 3 radar ranges, radar bearing and radar range.
Menu path |
|---|
|
Interface

Records and display
The table contains records of all manual observations performed in ECDIS for the selected time period, indicating the observation type, estimated and observed coordinates, residual, and observation status.
Observations selected for the specified period are displayed on the map:

Viewing details
To view an observation:
Select a record in the table.
Double-click the record (double-tap on a touch screen).

The table contains: date, time, type of position line, value of the navigational parameter, landmark name, chart name from which the landmark was taken for plotting, and landmark coordinates.
Note
The landmark name taken from the ENC is extracted from the object attribute OBJNAM. If ENC name display in the national language is enabled, the landmark name is extracted from the object attribute NOBJNM.
Sensor Data (Sentences)
Records of data received from navigational sensors. Data is recorded both in parsed and raw format. Only data from sensors with recording enabled is written to the logbook.
Menu path |
|---|
|
Interface

Records and display
The table contains records of all received data “as is”, without filtering. Damaged data is also recorded.
Attention
Recording navigational sensor data over an extended period may occupy significant disk space on ECDIS. It is recommended to enable recording of sensor data for subsequent failure analysis by the manufacturer. Recording of navigational sensor data is not mandatory and is disabled by default.
Table configuration
Configures column display in the table. Does not affect data recording.

Viewing record contents
To view:
Select a record in the table.
Double-click the record (double-tap on a touch screen).

The window contains the recorded sensor data value “as is” or in decoded form. The viewer is intended for data analysis by a qualified service engineer.
Logbook Export
Export of Navigational Log data for a selected time interval with a specified resolution. Export is available from any logbook mode.
Menu path |
|---|
|
Procedure
Configure export: specify the data type, range, and resolution.

Select the data for export and press Export.
In the dialog, select the prepared removable medium and confirm Export.

Wait for the export to complete.
Note
With a large volume of selected data, the export may take a considerable amount of time.
The export process is accompanied by a progress bar.
