BAM (Bridge Alert Management) — bridge alert management system. ECDIS can be connected to the BAM system.
BAM is designed for centralized management of alarms, warnings, and cautions from various navigation systems installed on the vessel.
BAM Operational Features
When operating jointly with BAM, ECDIS performs the following functions:
Receiving statuses of alarms, warnings, and cautions circulating on the navigation bridge network
Transmitting statuses of ECDIS-generated alarms, warnings, and cautions to BAM via the configured communication channel
Processing, analyzing, and tracking incoming messages in BAM
Escalation from warnings to alarms based on time criteria
Important
Acknowledgement of an alarm, warning, or caution on ECDIS is automatically sent to the network for BAM processing and is equivalent to acknowledgement at the BAM workstation.
This means that the operator only needs to acknowledge the alarm on ECDIS — the acknowledgement will be synchronized with the BAM system via the navigation bridge network.
All received alarms are displayed in the alarm, warning, and caution notification area.
BAM Connection
The sensor connection and setup are performed in accordance with the procedure.
Important
BAM supports only the network conforming to IEC 61162-450.

Important
BAM connection setup must be performed by a qualified specialist.
