The echo sounder connection and setup are performed in accordance with the procedure.
Depth sensor: Echo Sounder, INS.
Received message processing and checksum verification must be enabled in the sensor settings.
Echo sounders, depending on the device type, transmit the following IEC 61162 sentence headers:
SD — Sounder, depth;
SS — Sounder, scanning;
YX — Transducer;
IN — INS.
Recommended Sentence Set for Echo Sounder

Ensure that received message processing is correctly configured in the sensor settings:
Header processing is enabled
Checksum verification is configured
Tip
It is recommended to periodically verify the echo sounder’s correct operation by comparing its readings with known depths on the chart or when berthing at a berth with a known depth. This helps identify sensor or configuration issues in a timely manner.
Warning
Incorrect echo sounder correction settings may result in incorrect depth and under-keel clearance display, which creates a hazard to vessel safety. Before using the echo sounder, verify all settings are correct and check the displayed values against known depths.
