IEC 61162 Interfaces
The IEC 61162 standard defines data transmission protocols in marine navigation systems. This section describes the IEC 61162 interfaces for data exchange between NSR ECDIS NES-3000 and other navigation systems on the ship’s navigation bridge.
Note
ECDIS receives data from radionavigation systems (GPS, GLONASS), radars, AIS, compasses, logs, and transmits data to alarm systems (BNWAS, VDR) and backup ECDIS.
Hint
NSR ECDIS NES-3000 supports sentences of the IEC 61162 standard versions 4.0, 5.0, 6.0.

Manufacturer Messages Transmitted by DDCS
The PNAVRIS message is an extension of the IEC 61162 protocol developed by the manufacturer for transmitting navigation data (position, course, speed) from a VHF radio station supporting DDCS to ECDIS.
