S-57/S-63 Data Ingestion

In order to ingest S-57/S-63 data you should process it with two utilities: s57_senc_converter and make_senc:

  • s57_senc_converter converts an S-57/S-63 dataset to the internal SDK format
  • make_senc collects files in the internal SDK format to a single blob

s57_senc_converter parameters

Parameter Description
-dic=[path] S-57/S-63 dictionary path (GDAL environment directory).
-dic_profile (Optional) S-57/S-63 dictionary profile. Profiles are predefined:
  • Additional_Military_Layers - dictionary files s57objectclasses_aml.csv and s57attributes_aml.csv;
  • Inland_Waterways - dictionary files s57objectclasses_iw.csv and s57attributes_iw.csv;
  • in all other cases: Profile - dictionary files s57objectclasses_Profile.csv and s57attributes_Profile.csv.

    Default dictionary file names s57objectclasses.csv and s57attributes.csv are used in case if the key is omitted.
-inp=[path] [S-57/S-63 dataset path] or [directory path] or [path1;path2;...;path_n].
-out=[path] Path and name of the SENC dataset.
-upd=[path] (Optional) S-57/S-63 updates path.
-from=[dataset_name] (Optional) Dataset name to start from.
-upto=[dataset_name] (Optional) Dataset name to finish at.
-include-cells=[dataset_names] (Optional) Comma separated list of datasets to be processed. Format: [dataset_name1, dataset_name2, ..., dataset_name_n].
-verify-updated-features-only (Optional) Only updated features are to be verified.
-unknown-feature-warning (Optional) Turn on the unknown feature class warning.
-unknown-attribute-warning (Optional) Turn on the unknown attribute warning.
-prohibited-attribute-warning (Optional) Turn on the non-permissible attribute warning.
-verify-only (Optional) Verification only.
-verbose (Optional) Provide comments on the operation.
-hwid=[hw_id value] (Optional) HW_ID parameter for S-63 encryption.
-permits=[path] (Optional) Path to an S-63 permits file.
-copy_permits (Optional) Copy S-63 permits files to the output location and include them in the SENC database.
-encrypt (Optional) Encrypt SENC datasets after conversion. Can be used only if hwid and permits are specified.
-cov_off (Optional) Don't produce dataset coverage files.
-haz_off (Optional) Don't produce the hazards files.
-backrefs_on (Optional) Produce the back reference section.
-m_covr-extent[+/-] (Optional, default is -m_covr-extent+). Calculate the chart extent for M_COVR features only if +, otherwise calculate the chart extent for all features.
-check-crossing-chart-boundaries+[[P][S][L][A]] (Optional) Examine point/sounding/line/area objects for exceeding the chart extents and/or M_COVR object with CATCOV = 1.
-no-print-object-names (Optional) Don't generate object name tables output. The tables are named as datasets with *.ONM extension abd contain ObjectIndex/ObjectCode/ObjectName triplets.
-senc-crc32-file=[path] (Optional) Path to the file with CELL_NAME/CELL_CRC32 pairs.
-strict= (Optional) Force compilation stop should any error occur. Format: [true,yes,no,1-9] or [false,no,0].

make_senc parameters
